Flu, COVID, and RSV Vaccinations

We are now offering appointments for those eligible for the Flu and/or COVID Vaccination, starting on the 10th of October!

We have a Saturday clinic on the 12th of October, all day for COVID and Flu.

We also have a wide range of booked appointments during the day, which can be booked by phoning in or via text links.

Eligibility for the Free NHS Flu Vaccine:

  • Are aged 65 or over
  • Have certain long-term health conditions
  • Are pregnant
  • Live in a care home
  • Are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer’s allowance
  • Live with someone who has a weakened immune system

If you are pregnant, you will be invited to have your Flu Vaccination in September.

Eligibility for the Free COVID Vaccine:

  • Aged 65 years and over
  • Live in a care home for older adults
  • Individuals aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group

From 1 September 2024, those who turn 75 and those aged 75 to 79 will be eligible for a free vaccine to protect them from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

RSV is an infectious disease of the airways and lungs. RSV infection often causes symptoms similar to a cold, including:

  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Sneezing
  • A runny or blocked nose
  • Many requiring hospital admission

How the RSV Vaccine Works:

A single dose of the vaccine will help to boost protection as you reach an age group at the highest risk of serious RSV infection. Unlike the flu vaccine, you do not need to have the RSV vaccine every year.

The Protection Offered by the RSV Vaccine:

The vaccine has been shown to reduce the chance of suffering from RSV disease. As with all medicines, no vaccine is completely effective, and some people may still get RSV despite having the vaccination. If you do get RSV, it should be less severe.

This is separate from the Flu and COVID vaccinations we will be offering in October… invites will be sent out in the near future.
